What You Missed on Disney+’s ‘Loki’ Season 2 Trailer

Time is running out, and Tom Hiddleston’s God of Mischief is faced with some difficult decisions in the first official trailer for Season 2 of the Disney+ series Loki. Building on last year’s first look teaser, this latest preview gives a better feel of what Hiddleston’s Loki and Owen Wilson’s Mobius will be up against, aside from the MCU’s big bad Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror, of course.

The first season of the Marvel Disney+ TV series ended with Sophia Di Martino’s Sylvie, a female Loki variant, slaying He Who Remains, a variant of Majors’ Kang, causing the sacred timeline to split into countless branches. Loki returned to the TVA at the end of the season finale episode, ran into Mobius, who had forgotten about him, and found sculptures of Majors’ Kang all throughout the TVA.

Loki Season 2 teaser picks up just where we left off with our anti-hero, who now has a big mess to clean up. The new clip shows Loki experiencing unexpected blips and slips through time, prompting him to glitch out through different eras, a phenomena known as “timeslipping.” We begin with Loki and Mobius, played by Owen Wilson, visiting Ke Huy Quan, an Oscar-winning actor from Everything Everywhere All at Once, who plays “OB,” a type of fixer. Wilson tells Quan about Loki’s time-traveling antics and begs for a solution because the TVA forbids time-traveling.

In the trailer, Loki claims, “If what I saw was true, there is nothing that stands between this world and utter destruction.” Loki can be seen slipping into different places in the trailer, and then we get our first glimpse of Sophia Di Martino’s Sylvie, who is going through her own struggles. When Loki and Mobius begin time-traveling to repair the broken timeline, things get out of hand. The God of Mischief played by Hiddleston, however, will have to make some difficult decisions because “the timeline is running out.” The question “How do you choose who lives and who dies?” is posed by Loki in the trailer. If Kang is right, Loki must “make the hard choice.”

Victor Timely, the He Who Remains variant played by Jonathan Majors, makes brief appearances. He was last seen in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’s post-credits scene. Although Majors himself doesn’t appear in the new trailer, he does appear to be established as the next major Avenger-level threat. Along with Loki’s time travel, we also hook up with some other TVA personnel, including Tara Strong’s Miss Minutes, Eugene Cordero’s Casey, Gugu Mbatha-Raw’s Ravonna Renslayer, and Wunmi Mosaku’s Hunter B-15, who all appear to be experiencing their own unique timelines.

Additionally, Loki and Sylvie had a really interesting conversation in the Loki Season 2 trailer about how they are both gods and how they would eventually work together to execute some remarkable Asgardian magic. Six brand-new episodes will make up Loki Season 2, with Eric Martin serving as the show’s head writer. Michael Waldron, who created Loki, serves as an executive producer alongside Victoria Alonso, Louis D’Esposito, and Kevin Feige, and the episodes are directed by Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead, Kasra Farahani, and Dan Deleeuw.

This teaser for Disney’s Loki Season 2 has left us all hungry for more. The tantalizing hints at character growth, new mysteries, and breathtaking visuals have us counting down the days until the season’s release. But hey, that’s just my take on it.
