Rihanna surpasses Taylor Swift on Forbes’ America’s richest self-made women’s list

Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, and Reese Witherspoon have all reached Forbes’ America’s Richest Self-Made Women list, which includes the country’s most successful female entrepreneurs, executives, and celebrities.

Rihanna is the richest self-made woman in music, surpassing Taylor to the 20th spot with a net worth of $1.4 billion.

Swift, the list’s second most successful musical artist, is ranked 34th with a net worth of $740 million.

Swift’s record-breaking music sales and sold-out tours have been crucial to her financial success. She became the first artist in Billboard history to hold the top ten slots on the Billboard Hot 100 at the same time.

Furthermore, her Eras Tour sparked a frenzy among fans, prompting Ticketmaster’s systems to break down and sparking arguments about concert sales laws among members of Congress.

While Rihanna has overtaken Taylor, Forbes attributes her fortune to two separate sources of income: her music and cosmetics empire, Fenty Beauty.

Fenty Beauty is co-owned by the Pon de Replay singer and the French luxury store LVMH. Fenty Beauty’s income more than doubled last year. She also owns 30% of the Savage x Fenty lingerie label, which was valued at $1 billion in 2021.

Kim, a reality star turned businesswoman, is ranked 21st, just below Rihanna, with a net worth of $1.2 billion.

The social media sensation makes money from her shapewear company SKIMS and her cosmetics line.

The majority of her fortune stems from her ownership of the shapewear company.

The multitalented actress and performer Reese Witherspoon ranks #59 on the list with a fortune of $440 million.

According to Forbes, she is the world’s richest actress, and she reportedly made $20 million for starring in just 10 episodes of her successful series The Morning Show.

Madonna ranked 45th with $580 million, while Beyonce landed 48th with $540 million.

Beyonce, who has ventured into fashion with her Ivy Park line, draws most of her fortune from her solo career as well as her time with Destiny’s Child.

Her immense riches are the result of a three-decade career in music. In particular, Beyoncé’s work with luxury brand Balmain, which was inspired by her Grammy-winning album Renaissance, demonstrates her versatility and financial savvy.

Kim’s younger sister, Kylie Jenner, 25, was also included on the list. She is ranked 38th, with a net worth of $680 million.

They pointed to her $600 million sale of Kylie Cosmetics to Coty, Inc. three years ago. She received $540 million before taxes from the sale and still owns 44% of the company.

Celine Dion is ranked #56 on the list with a net worth of $480 million, and Dolly Parton is #59 with a net worth of $440 million.

The majority of Celine’s fortune stems from her lucrative Las Vegas residencies.

Barbra Streisand ranked #61 on the list with a net worth of $430 million. Aside from her musical prowess, the EGOT winner owns a Malibu compound that is said to be worth $80 million.

Talk show hosts were also included on the list.

Oprah Winfrey placed 13th with a net worth of $2.5 billion, while Ellen DeGeneres ranked 73rd with $380 million.

Tennis pro-Serena Williams ranked #89 on the list, with a net worth of $290 million.

With a $250 million fortune, legendary showrunner Shonda Rhimes ranked #96 on the list.
