Meet Meg Bellamy, the new Kate Middleton in The Crown

“The Crown,” the popular Netflix series that chronicles the life and reign of Queen Elizabeth II, has announced its latest casting choice for the role of Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge. The actress who will portray the future queen consort is none other than Meg Bellamy, a 19-year-old newcomer who has no professional acting experience.

Bellamy, who hails from Wokingham, Berkshire, near where Kate grew up, was selected after submitting a self-taped audition following an open call on social media. She beat thousands of hopefuls who applied for the coveted role, which will span the sixth and final season of the show.

Bellamy said she was shocked and thrilled when she received the call from the producers, telling her she had landed the part. She said she had always been a fan of “The Crown” and admired Kate for her grace and poise. She said she felt honoured and privileged to play the role of the Duchess of Cambridge and hoped to do her justice.

“I’m so excited to join the cast of ‘The Crown’ and to work with such talented and amazing people. I can’t believe I get to play Kate Middleton, who is someone I look up to and admire so much. She is such a strong and inspiring woman, and I hope I can capture her essence and spirit on screen,” Bellamy said.

Bellamy, who has just finished her A-levels, said she had always dreamed of becoming an actress but never thought she would get such a big break so soon. She said she had no formal training in acting but had participated in school plays and drama clubs. She said she was nervous but eager to start filming and to learn from her co-stars and directors.

Bellamy will join the likes of Imelda Staunton, who will play Queen Elizabeth II, Jonathan Pryce, who will play Prince Philip, Elizabeth Debicki, who will play Princess Diana, and Dominic West, who will play Prince Charles. The sixth season of “The Crown” will cover the events of the early 2000s, including the death of Princess Margaret, the Queen Mother, and the Golden Jubilee.

“The Crown,” which has won multiple awards and accolades, is one of the most watched and acclaimed shows on Netflix. It has been praised for its historical accuracy, production value, and performances. The fifth season of the show is expected to premiere in late 2022, while the sixth and final season is slated for 2023.
