And it seems her ex has wasted no time in jumping back into the dating scene. But here’s the twist: reports suggest that he was ‘taken aback’ by Ariana’s fame. Whoa, talk about a clash of worlds!
Fans were stunned yesterday when TMZ revealed that Ariana Grande and her husband, Dalton Gomez, split up after two years of marriage.
News that she and Dalton have reportedly been living apart since January and are getting a divorce surfaced just a day after the singer was sighted at the Wimbledon finals without her wedding band.
While the specifics of how Ariana and Dalton originally connected are unknown, sources have speculated that the two clicked after Ari hired Dalton as her real estate agent in 2019.
The couple made their first appearance in public in February 2020, and when the COVID-19 pandemic struck a month later, they were able to develop their relationship in secret while they were quarantined in LA.
Ariana hinted about their relationship on social media before formally announcing it in May of that same year when she and Dalton shared a scene in the music video for their charity collaboration with Justin Bieber, “Stuck With U”.
After nine months of dating, the pair made their engagement public in December 2020. They were married in a modest, private ceremony at their house in May 2021.
In the early days of their relationship, sources claimed that Ariana was enjoying dating someone who wasn’t in the spotlight, especially in light of her highly publicized engagement to Pete Davidson. Their relationship was extremely discreet from the beginning.
According to TMZ, the couple was unable to make their marriage work after COVID because of the drastically divergent nature of their professional lives. It now appears that the stark contrast between their respective jobs may have served as the reason for the reported breakup.
The source claims that following the full lifting of lockdown limitations, “their differences became alarmingly apparent,” leaving Dalton “taken aback by Ariana’s celebrity.”
According to TMZ, “He had not dealt with her schedule, the paparazzi, and the various opportunities that took her out of LA,” and the realtor would frequently object to Ari’s request to have security accompany them when they left the house.
According to reports, the couple’s differences led to the breakdown of their marriage, which was exacerbated when Ari moved to London late last year to start filming the Wicked movies.
Despite all of this, it appears that the former lovers are still friendly, and late yesterday, TMZ revealed that Dalton has already begun dating again with Ari’s blessing.
