What red carpet rules?
Scarlett Johansson showed off her tattoos at the opening of “Asteroid City” at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival today. She wore a pink dress with a low back as she walked the red carpet .
The 38-year-old actress, who stars in the Wes Anderson movie with Tom Hanks, Margot Robbie, and Steve Carell, wore a custom-made Prada outfit to the opening that showed off her huge back tattoo of flowers
The design has a lamb and a number of large roses. The roses are likely a tribute to her 7-year-old daughter Rose, whom she shares with her ex-husband Romain Dauriac.
Makeup artist Frankie Boyd gave a closer look at Johansson’s beautiful pink look by posting an Instagram video that showed the details of her strapless column gown with a beaded white strap piece underneath.
She tucked her blonde hair behind her ears to show off a dazzling pair of diamond star drop earrings. She also wore a bright red lip and plenty of pink blush.
On the red carpet, the founder of Outset skin care held hands with her husband, Colin Jost, who looked sharp in a simple black tux.
The “Black Widow” actress has shown off her tattoos on the red carpet before. At the 2020 Oscars, she wore a corseted dress to show off her roses, and at a 2019 Comic-Con interview, she showed off an owl tattoo on her ribcage.
Her other tattoos include a sunrise on her inner arm, an “I Love NY” bracelet inked around her wrist, a horseshoe with the words “lucky you” on her ribs, and the Avengers logo on her bicep, which she shares with five of her Marvel co-stars.
Perhaps the mother of one will persuade Jost to get inked as well.
Wes Anderson’s eleventh movie is a gentle tribute to both alien encounters in the 1950s and, oddly enough, the theater. It is another concertina tale meticulously penned by Anderson and his regular co-writer Roman Coppola.
It was shown for the first time in the main competition at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. It reminded people of Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom, which opened the festival in 2012.
In Asteroid City, there are no boy scouts. Instead, there is a Junior Stargazing Contest. It takes place in the city’s namesake, which is a desert town on the border of California and Nevada.
“Asteroid City” is also a play within the movie, and there are some black-and-white scenes that show what’s going on behind the scenes. These scenes are narrated by Bryan Cranston’s announcer, and Edward Norton plays the writer and Adrien Brody plays a Brando-like player.
At the center of the three-act movie is a family led by Augie (Jason Schwartzman), a war photographer and father of four who is still sad about the death of his wife. Her father (Tom Hanks) arrives to be with the children just as a bizarre otherworldly phenomenon unfolds.
Anderson is in a good mood in the movie Asteroid City. It is a treat to take in due to the wordplay and vibrant imagery, which is rich in oranges, blues, and yellows. Mainly, though, this is Anderson at his most off-kilter. As Hanks’s character says, “What a strange experience this is.”
