More information about Tina Turner’s death has come to light.
Her death was determined to be due to natural causes one day after she passed away at the age of 83, her representatives told DailyMail.com. Her publicist also informed NBC News that her death was the result of a long illness.
E! News has tried to get a statement from her manager but hasn’t heard back yet.
On May 24, her team told the media that she had died at her home in Switzerland.
“With her music and her boundless passion for life, she enchanted millions of fans around the world and inspired the stars of tomorrow,” said a statement shared on her social media pages.
“Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all with her greatest work: her music. All our heartfelt compassion goes out to her family. We will miss Tina very much.”
In the last few years of her life, the “Proud Mary” singer talked about her health problems, such as high blood pressure, dizziness, a stroke, intestinal cancer, and kidney failure.
In her 2021 documentary, Tina, the singer said that her troubled marriage to Ike Turner caused her to have post-traumatic stress disorder.
Turner, who married music executive Erwin Bach in 2013, wrote in her memoir, My Love Story, “I’ve been on such a wild roller coaster in the four years since my wedding that even I have trouble keeping my medical catastrophes straight.”
Turner passed away just five months after the death of her and Ike’s son Ronnie and nearly five years after the passing of her son Craig.
Her passing sent shockwaves through Hollywood, with numerous celebrities speaking out on the impact her accomplishments had on the entertainment industry.
Angela Bassett, who played the legend in the 1993 biopic What’s Love Got to Do With It, said in a statement, “Through her courage in telling her story, her commitment to stay the course in her life, no matter what the sacrifice, and her determination to carve out a space in rock and roll for herself and for others who look like her.” “Tina Turner showed people who lived in fear what a beautiful, caring, and free future should look like.”
The actress, who won a Golden Globe for her part, said that it was an honor to know the icon.
“Her last words to me were, “You never tried to be me. Instead, you dug deep into your soul, found your inner Tina, and showed her to the world,” she said. “These words will stay with me for the rest of my life.”
