Rita Ora has officially put an end to lingering rumors of a supposed feud with fellow pop sensation Dua Lipa, expressing her desire to collaborate with Dua and two other chart-topping British female artists, Bebe Rexha and Ava Max.
In a recent interview on the podcast “Not Skinny But Not Fat” hosted by Amanda Hirsch, Rita opened up about the prospect of teaming up with Dua, Bebe, and Ava for a music collaboration. All four artists share a common heritage, hailing from the region of Southeast Europe.
When Amanda noted the significant representation of Albanians in the music industry, Rita enthusiastically responded, “Yeah, it’s great to see. When I started in 2012, there wasn’t. So, now, we have Dua Lipa, and Bebe Rexha, and-,” before being interrupted by Amanda, who inquired if they ever faced comparisons.
“I think it’s a natural thing when people get compared, especially because there’s not a lot of us in that part of the world,” Rita explained. Amanda further probed if they had ever united for a project, to which Rita shared, “Yeah. With Ava Max and Bebe, I have. Not so much with Dua, yet, but it would be great if we all did something great together. Just to kind of represent.”
Rita Ora and Dua Lipa, both originating from Kosovo with Albanian heritage, have faced rumors of a feud over the years. However, Rita revealed a deeper connection, as their grandfathers were friends. Despite reports of tension, Rita expressed her hope for a collaborative effort, echoing sentiments shared by Bebe Rexha, who tried to mediate between the two artists in 2021.
In her interview with The Sun, Bebe stated, “I have really tried. I don’t know what’s really going on there or what the drama is. I’ve tried to always be the peace-keeper and bring the girls together. For me, I would really love to do something together but I’m not sure that will ever happen. And I won’t say any more about that.”
Both Bebe Rexha and Ava Max, with Albanian parents, have made significant contributions to the music scene. Bebe’s music journey began in 2010, with her breakthrough hit “I’m Good (Blue)” in 2023. Meanwhile, Ava Max secured a number one hit in 2018 with “Sweet But Psycho.”
While Rita hinted at collaboration dreams, Dua Lipa recently made headlines for her projected ascent to becoming Britain’s wealthiest female singer. On track to reach billionaire status by 40, Dua continues to dominate the music industry.
Towards the end of the podcast episode, Rita shared an unexpected revelation about her favorite celebrity, and it wasn’t her director husband Taika Waititi. Rita confessed, “Do you know who I’m fangirling over? Coleen Rooney. She’s a Wag, she’s married to Wayne Rooney, and she’s like my idol. She did this incredible documentary on Disney+ and I just love her. I love people that just do whatever the f*** they want.” The unexpected admiration for Coleen Rooney added a delightful twist to the candid conversation, showcasing Rita’s diverse interests beyond the music realm.
