Katy Perry, the renowned popstar, is not only making waves with her lithe figure showcased in the latest holiday offerings from her fashion line but has also emerged victorious in a legal battle against a disabled veteran over a property sale. Perry’s Instagram post on Friday featured a festive album from her apparel line, Katy Perry Collections, flaunting skintight holiday wear that perfectly complements the Yuletide spirit.
One standout image captures Perry draped in a skintight red, white, and green tartan frock, paired with candy cane heels. The 36-year-old singer embraced the holiday vibes, captioning the photo with, ‘It really IS time,’ along with a Christmas tree emoji. The festive showcase comes just as Perry and her fiancé, Orlando Bloom, celebrated a legal triumph in a three-year battle against a disabled veteran over the sale of a $15 million Montecito home.
The legal victory followed Perry and Bloom’s purchase of the 8.9-acre estate in 2020 from 84-year-old Carl Westcott. The disabled veteran later attempted to backtrack on the sale, claiming he was under the influence of painkillers at the time and unaware of the implications of the agreement. However, a Los Angeles judge ruled in favor of Perry and Bloom, stating that Westcott presented no persuasive evidence that he lacked the capacity to enter a real estate contract.
Fresh off their legal success, Perry and Bloom were spotted on a loved-up dinner date in Manhattan, exuding happiness and holding hands as they strolled down the street. Perry, adorned in a plush blue coat with faux fur trim, showcased her chic 1960s updo and elegant makeup. Bloom, embracing a quirky style, wore sunglasses at night and layered a tartan jacket over a matching shirt.
The legal battle stemmed from Westcott’s attempt to rescind the sale agreement, alleging he was unable to comprehend the consequences due to the influence of opioids and painkillers following back surgery. Despite Westcott’s claims, Judge Joseph Lipner ruled against him, emphasizing that the evidence did not support the argument that he lacked the capacity to enter the real estate contract.
Perry’s attorney, Eric Rowen, commented on the ruling, stating, ‘The evidence shows that Mr. Westcott breached the contract for no other reason than he had changed his mind.’ Perry is now seeking millions of dollars in lost rent from Westcott for the eight-bedroom home.
Westcott, an 80-year-old veteran of the US Army 101st Airborne, has been battling Huntington’s Disease since 2015. The rare disease affects areas of the brain controlling voluntary movement, with one of the symptoms being dementia. Despite Westcott’s attempt to rescind the contract, Perry and Bloom’s letter, written after the property’s purchase, emphasized their intent to create a loving home for their growing family.
This legal victory isn’t the first time Perry has faced legal challenges regarding property purchases. In 2015, she engaged in a battle with elderly Roman Catholic nuns over the sale of a convent. The contentious legal dispute ended with Perry and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles winning damages totaling over $15 million.
While Perry continues to make headlines with her legal triumphs and fashionable ventures, her latest Instagram post reaffirms her status as a style icon, showcasing not only holiday-inspired attire but also a lithe figure that captivates fans worldwide. As Perry gears up for the holiday season and eagerly awaits the arrival of her first child with Bloom, her resilience in the face of legal challenges further solidifies her status as a pop sensation with unwavering strength and style.
