Sian Welby, the popular radio presenter and TV personality, has announced that she is expecting her first child with her fiance Jake Beckett. The 34-year-old broke the news live on her Capital Breakfast show with Roman Kemp and Chris Stark on Wednesday, February 28, 2024.
Sian, who has been co-hosting the show since 2020, surprised her listeners and her co-stars with the happy news, saying: “I have some very exciting news to share with you this morning. I’m pregnant!”
She then played a clip of her baby’s heartbeat, which she had recorded during her scan. She said: “That is the sound of my little baby. I’m so excited, I can’t believe I’m finally telling you this.”
Roman and Chris were overjoyed for their friend and colleague, and gave her hugs and congratulations. They also joked that they had suspected something was going on, as Sian had been acting differently and avoiding alcohol.
Sian admitted that she had to keep her pregnancy a secret from them for a long time, and recalled how she had to intercept a drink order at the Christmas party to make sure it was non-alcoholic. She said: “I’ve been hiding this for so long, it’s been so hard. I’ve been feeling so sick and tired, and I’ve had to pretend that everything was fine.”
Sian also revealed that she is due in August, and that she and Jake are very happy and excited. She said: “We’re over the moon, we can’t wait to meet our little one. It’s going to be the best thing ever.”
Sian and Jake, who is the producer of Heart Breakfast, got engaged in December 2023, after dating for two years. Sian shared the news of their engagement on Instagram, where she posted a photo of her ring and wrote: “He put a ring on it! I said yes!”
She also posted about her pregnancy on Instagram, where she received many comments from celebrities and fans. Among them were her This Morning co-stars Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, who congratulated her and wished her all the best.
Sian is also known for her work on This Morning, where she recently missed out on being named Holly Willoughby’s permanent replacement. She had been filling in for Holly, who left the show after 13 years, but lost the role to Rochelle Humes.
However, Sian reassured her listeners that she is not leaving Capital Breakfast, and that she is looking forward to having fun with her baby. She said: “I’m not going anywhere, I’m still going to be here every morning with you guys. And I can’t wait to introduce you to my baby and have some laughs with them.”
We wish Sian and Jake all the best for their future as parents, and we can’t wait to hear more updates from them. Congratulations, Sian! 🎉
