Brad Pitt Continues to Strain Relationship with His Kids

Brad Pitt is practically estranged from his older children according to a report by People. “He has virtually no contact with the adult kids. His engagement with the younger kids is more limited in recent months because of his filming schedule.”

Brad shares six kids with his ex-wife Angelina Jolie. The couple’s three biological children are Shiloh and twins Vivienne and Knox. They also have three adopted children: Maddox, Pax and Zahara. While Jolie has primary custody, the Fight Club actor has visitation rights with the younger kids. But with his hectic filming schedule, even these visits have become rare.

In June, Shiloh made headlines by filing to drop her father’s last name. For Pitt, this was a bitter pill to swallow. A source close to the Oscar winner shared, “He’s aware and upset that Shiloh dropped his last name. He’s never felt more joy than when she was born. He always wanted a daughter.”

The Pitt-Jolie clan has been through the wringer. Brad and Angelina started dating publicly in 2005, after his divorce from Jennifer Aniston. They got engaged in 2012 and tied the knot in 2014, only for Jolie to file for divorce two years later. The couple was declared legally single in 2019, but their divorce battle over assets and custody has dragged on for years.

A significant point of contention has been a notorious private jet incident in 2016. According to an FBI report, the Maleficent actress accused Pitt of physical assault while they were flying to California. She claimed he was intoxicated, grabbed her by the head, shook her, and later pushed her down during a confrontation related to their children. Jolie also alleged that Pitt told the kids she was “f***ing up this family” and punched the ceiling of the plane four times.

Despite the issue, sources close to Pitt insist he still loves his children tremendously. “This whole process has been very hard for the whole family,” an insider told People. “He’s still happy with Ines [de Ramon],” his current girlfriend, but the distance between him and his six kids continues to cause him pain.

Shiloh isn’t the only child distancing herself. Vivienne recently listed her name as ‘Vivienne Jolie’ in the Playbill for the Broadway musical adaptation of The Outsiders, where she served as her mother’s assistant. Zahara also introduced herself as ‘Zahara Marley Jolie’ when she joined the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority at Spelman College.

Maddox and Pax have reportedly not used their father’s last name in years and have been openly antagonistic toward him. It’s clear that the bond between Brad and his children is hanging by a thread, and the rift seems to be growing.

For now, Pitt remains focused on his career. He’s currently filming a new racing movie, F1, in Europe while The Eternals actress lives in Los Angeles with their younger children. The actor’s demanding schedule has made it challenging to maintain consistent contact with his kids, but sources say he’s committed to being there for them as much as possible.
