Bella Ramsey, known for her roles in Game of Thrones and The Last Of Us, has set her sights on an unexpected role—the notorious Batman villain, The Joker. At just 20 years old, Ramsey, who is non-binary and uses she/they pronouns, expressed her desire to explore the dark and complex character of The Joker, a role previously portrayed by actors like Joaquin Phoenix and Jared Leto.
In an exclusive interview with LadBible, Bella spilled the tea on her longing to play a ‘baddy,’ emphasizing her eagerness to take on an intriguing, intricate, and complex villainous character. When asked about stepping into the shoes of previous Joker actors, she candidly responded, ‘Yeah. I was actually thinking that as well. The Joker, someone really interesting like that.’
But that’s not all; Bella Ramsey recently clarified her preferred pronouns on Instagram, stating that she doesn’t mind which pronouns are used for her. In a no-nonsense post, she asserted, ‘Call me she, call me they, call me he, call me however you see me. You cannot go wrong! It’s impossible to misgender me. This is the last I will talk about gender stuff for a while. Thanks for your support!’
Ramsey, who received her breakout role as Lyanna Mormont in Game of Thrones at the age of 13, has been making waves in the industry. After her powerful performance in the prison drama series Time alongside Jodie Whittaker, she earned a spot on this year’s BAFTA Breakthrough list, an accolade she described as a ‘big honor.’
Reflecting on her journey in the industry, Ramsey shared insights into the decision to keep a low profile during her early fame. ‘While my parents were so terrified that we just sort of kept everything very private, barely did any interviews, like three phone call interviews. And I’m really proud of that. And I’m really glad that I was up until The Last Of Us; I was fairly anonymous, even though I’ve done other work,’ she revealed.
As Bella Ramsey gears up for a potential Joker transformation, fans are left buzzing with excitement. Will she bring a new dimension to the iconic villain, or is this just another plot twist in the ever-evolving world of celebrity revelations? Share your thoughts below!
