Jay-Z and Beyonce have just purchased one of the country’s greatest architectural marvels, a 30,000 square foot property in the exclusive Malibu neighborhood, for a king’s ransom.
According to real estate sources cited by TMZ, the couple paid $200 million for the property, making it the most expensive residence ever sold in California… surpassing the previous record of $177 million. It’s also the second most expensive real estate transaction in the United States, after the $238 million sale of a New York City apartment.
The house was secretly listed for a whopping $295 million, so they got an amazing deal.
The home is located in Paradise Cove, also known as Billionaires’ Row, on an 8-acre cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
It’s an architectural masterpiece by Japanese master architect Tadao Ando, who is also responsible for designing Kanye West’s new Malibu home.
One of the world’s largest private collectors of art, William Bell, owned and constructed the home. Bell worked on the all-concrete building for almost 15 years.
We know this because in 2017 the couple spent $88 million on a Bel-Air mansion and then spent millions more to get its value up to $100 million.
Both the buyers and the sellers were represented by famous real estate agent Kurt Rappaport. We contacted his office for comment, but so far we haven’t heard back.
Before her Renaissance Tour shows in London, the “Break My Soul” singer shared a carousel of photos on social media showing her and her husband Jay-Z out and about in the U.K. capital.
The first picture in the May 19 post showed Beyoncé wearing a brown jacket, sitting in a brown chair in a room with brown curtains, and flashing her bare feet while holding a brown heel.
The Grammy winner also posed in front of a bar, her long, honey-blonde hair hanging loosely about her face in her matching blazer two-piece suit.
Along with photos of a bouquet of flowers and Beyoncé making a kissy face in front of a Ferris wheel in the distance, the singer and Jay-Z—who are the parents of Blue Ivy, 11, and twins Rumi and Sir, 5—posed in an elevator with the rapper holding a cup of tea and wearing a black beanie, shirt, and jacket that matched his tan pants.
The 41-year-old started her highly-anticipated Renaissance World Tour on May 10 in Stockholm, Sweden.
The pop star lit up the stage in a number of different outfits, including a metallic ash catsuit by Alexander McQueen. She also wore a pair of sheer cargo pants and a long-sleeved top with a silver chrome breastplate to pay tribute to her Destiny’s Child days.
As for a special audience guest? Blue Ivy joined Jay Z, who is 53 years old, to cheer on her mom from a VIP area at the Friends Arena.
Beyoncé hasn’t been on a solo tour in more than six years, when she went on The Formation World Tour in 2016.
