Zac Efron, our favorite High School Musical heartthrob turned Baywatch hunk, had fans in a frenzy this weekend. The 36-year-old actor was whisked away to a hospital in Ibiza following what sources are calling an “incident in a swimming pool” at a luxe villa.
It all went down on Friday night when Zac, who has been gallivanting around Europe, was found in a less-than-glamorous state. According to TMZ, two quick-thinking staff members at the villa fished him out of the pool.
Despite the dramatic rescue, Zac’s rep insists it was merely a “precautionary measure” and that the incident was minor. But let’s be real: If it was so minor, why the hospital visit? What’s the tea, Zac?
In true celebrity fashion, Zac took to Instagram Stories on Sunday to assure his fans that he’s doing just fine. He posted a shirtless workout pic (because of course he did) with the caption, “Happy and Healthy, thanks for the well wishes.” Nothing says “I’m okay” like flexing those famous abs while lifting barbells on an exercise ball.
While Zac’s rep played it cool, the lack of detail leaves much to the imagination. Were we expecting a grand narrative of heroism and near-death experience? Maybe. But instead, we got cryptic comments and a lot of unanswered questions. Was Zac channeling his inner Aquaman and got a little too into character? Or was he just too relaxed after hanging out with Dutch DJ Martin Garrix on stage?
Zac has been living his best life in Ibiza and Europe, clearly enjoying the Mediterranean sun and all it has to offer. Just two weeks ago, he was spotted soaking up the rays on a yacht with friends in Ibiza, and before that, he was kicking back in St. Tropez. Life is good when you’re Zac Efron, except for those minor mishaps that land you in the hospital.
This isn’t the first time Zac has found himself in a sticky situation. Remember back in the day when he “shattered” his jaw after slipping on socks at home? Yes, socks. That incident left him unconscious with his chin bone hanging off his face.
In 2022, he told Men’s Health Magazine about the ordeal, explaining how his masseter muscles compensated for his injury, leading to the infamous jaw transformation that had everyone screaming “plastic surgery!”
As always, the internet had plenty to say about Zac’s latest escapade. “Nobody believes this statement. It’s a total PR crisis mode statement because of his history and being found passed out in a pool isn’t a good look.”, one commented. Another added, “His PR team is thinking this doesn’t look good considering what happened to Matthew Perry months ago.”
