Olivia Wilde is on the receiving end of criticism from fans after she reshared a post from X about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s rumored romance.
On Friday the 39-year-old director — who was spotted leaving the gym this week — took to Instagram Stories to share a tweet that read: ‘I wish Taylor Swift was in love with a climate scientist.’
The subtle jab referenced the recent frenzy around the unlikely pair — 33-year-old Swift and 34-year-old Kelce, who have captivated the nation the last two weeks with their new relationship.
The tweet implied that the hoopla surrounding the couple would be better directed toward more important issues, such as climate change.
Online critics took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to air out their opinions, and it didn’t take long for Wilde’s ex-boyfriend Harry Styles to be pulled into the conversation.
‘I get it but like also… who is Olivia Wilde to say s**t. I don’t remember harry styles restoring the ozone when they were dating,’ one commentator wrote.
Wilde and Styles dated from January 2021 until November 2022, sparking a similar insatiable interest from fans in their relationship.
Someone weighed in: ‘She wasn’t worried about climate change when she was flying across the country to go chase Harry lmao.’
There was also a harsh opinion that read, ‘Olivia Wilde is the last person who should be criticizing anyone about who they date.’
A different person simply chimed in, ‘Olivia Wilde is jealous of Taylor Swift.’
One person wrote, ‘Olivia Wilde is just an aging mean girl.’
Another person on X referenced the 2022 Academy Awards as she wrote: ‘@oliviawilde keep my wife’s name (taylor swift) out your mouth.’
Others came to the Don’t Worry Darling filmmaker’s defense, with one person contributing to the conversation: ‘I don’t even like olivia wilde but i think she was real for that! yall are BORED.’
Swift and Kelce were first linked to each other just over a month ago, but the NFL star is reportedly already smitten with the pop star.
However, the Ohio native spent his October 5 birthday with a mystery blonde in Kansas City, with Swift nowhere in sight.
On Friday morning Kelce’s mom Donna Kelce visited the Today show and spoke about her first encounter with Swift.
Seeming a bit uncomfortable, she said, ‘It is fairly new, so I don’t like to talk about it. It’s just one of those things where, you know, obviously everybody saw me. It’s just, you know, another thing that’s amped up my life.’
