In a shocking turn of events, British supermodel Cara Delevingne’s $7 million mansion in Los Angeles was ravaged by a massive fire in the early hours of Friday morning. The 35-year-old, who has been candid about her recent personal struggles, was not present at the residence during the catastrophic event as she is currently in the UK performing in Cabaret on London’s West End.
The fire, which reportedly started in a backroom of the property, rapidly spread to the attic, causing extensive damage to the lavish estate. A total of 94 firefighters in 13 engines responded to the scene after a 911 call was made around 3:57am. It took almost two hours for the firefighters to fully contain the blaze, during which one firefighter was injured after falling from a ladder.
In the midst of the devastation, there was a glimmer of hope. Delevingne’s two cats, initially feared to have perished in the fire, were rescued by the brave firefighters. The supermodel expressed her relief and gratitude on Instagram, stating, “They are alive!! Thank you to the firefighters.”
Delevingne, who is currently dating musical artist Minke, has been vocal about her commitment to sobriety following a period of intense partying that led to a stint in rehab. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the unpredictability of life, a sentiment echoed by Delevingne in a now-deleted Instagram post, “My heart is broken today. I cannot believe it. Life can change in a blink of an eye. So cherish what you have.”
The cause of the fire remains unknown, and an investigation is currently underway. One individual, who was staying at the residence, was treated for smoke inhalation. Cara says she’s been getting a lot of support from her friends since September. They’ve been helping her deal with her problems and telling her that she deserves to be happy.
She’s been going to therapy to help her get better too. She realized that trying to fix things quickly wasn’t really helping, so now she’s following a program called the 12-step program to help her heal properly.
Even though Cara knows her journey to getting better won’t be easy, she’s frustrated that some people don’t understand how hard it is. She says recovery isn’t something that happens overnight, and she’s committed to working on it for the rest of her life.
During the lockdown, Cara struggled with feeling really depressed, especially after breaking up with her then girlfriend Ashley Benson. The supermodel felt like her whole life was tied to her work, and when that was taken away, she felt like she had no purpose.
