Los Angeles, California – The Marvel star Chris Evans and the Portuguese actress Alba Baptista have finally confirmed that they are married. The couple had two wedding ceremonies – one in Portugal, where Baptista is from, and another in the United States, where Evans lives.
Evans, who played Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, said that the ceremonies were wonderful and beautiful. He also said that he and his wife have been relaxing and enjoying life and reflecting after their weddings.
The couple had kept their relationship under wraps until recently. They sparked rumors of romance when they were seen together in New York City in November 2022. They announced their relationship to the world through an Instagram post, where they shared a photo of them kissing.
Evans, 41, and Baptista, 26, got married in September this year at a private estate in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The wedding was a star-studded affair, with some of their famous friends and co-stars in attendance. Some of the guests included Jeremy Renner, Robert Downey Jr., John Krasinski, and Emily Blunt.
The newlyweds decided to have two ceremonies to honor their cultural backgrounds and families. The first ceremony was held in Portugal, where Baptista was born and raised. The second ceremony was held on the East Coast of the United States, where Evans grew up.
The couple’s double celebration marked the start of a “really, really great” journey together. Evans expressed his happiness while talking about his marriage at New York Comic Con. He said, “It was really, really great. We kinda had two ceremonies. We had one on the East Coast. We did one in Portugal. My wife’s Portuguese. Yeah, go Portugal.”
Evans and Baptista met on the set of the Netflix series Warrior Nun, where Baptista played the lead role of Ava Silva and Evans had a guest appearance as Father Vincent. The two hit it off instantly and started dating shortly after filming wrapped up.
Evans and Baptista are both known for their roles in superhero movies and shows. Evans has been part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2011, when he first appeared as Captain America in Captain America: The First Avenger. He has since reprised his role in several movies, including Avengers: Endgame, where he passed on his shield to Anthony Mackie’s Falcon.
Baptista made her debut as a superhero in Warrior Nun, which premiered on Netflix in 2020. The show is based on a comic book series of the same name by Ben Dunn. It follows the story of Ava Silva, a young woman who wakes up with a divine artifact embedded in her back that gives her supernatural powers. She joins a secret order of warrior nuns who fight evil forces.
Evans and Baptista are both set to return to their respective superhero roles in upcoming projects. Evans will voice Captain America in the animated series What If…?, which will explore alternate scenarios in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Baptista will reprise her role as Ava Silva in the second season of Warrior Nun, which is expected to release in 2023.
