Shakira’s Spectacular VMAs Comeback: New Music, Hot Romance, and Rising from the Ashes!

The MTV VMAs on September 12 delivered some major moments, but one unforgettable highlight stole the spotlight: Shakira’s show-stopping 10-minute medley performance, featuring chart-toppers like “Hips Don’t Lie” and “TQG.” But that’s not all – she also graced the stage to accept the Video Vanguard Award with an emotional speech that left fans in tears.

In her acceptance speech, the global superstar, aged 46, dedicated her success to her devoted fans, saying, “I want to share this with my fans, who always support me through thick and thin. Thank you so much for being my army and helping me fight all my battles.”

Shakira’s journey to this triumphant moment has been nothing short of tumultuous. In June 2022, she endured a heart-wrenching breakup with her partner of 11 years, former pro soccer player Gerard Piqué. The couple, parents to sons Milan, 10, and Sasha, 8, called it quits amid reports of Piqué’s involvement with 24-year-old Clara Chia Marti. Shakira candidly referred to this breakup as “the darkest hour of my life.”

However, multiple sources now reveal that Shakira, who relocated to Miami in April and has been romantically linked to NBA star Jimmy Butler, aged 34, since the summer, is emerging from the shadows stronger than ever. “It’s a new chapter for Shakira,” affirms an insider, “and she’s feeling better than ever.”

Last September, Shakira opened up about her painful breakup with Piqué, stating, “I’ve remained quiet and just tried to process it all. It’s hard to talk about it, especially because I’m still going through it.”

In January, she seemingly addressed Piqué’s relationship with Marti in a diss track recorded with Bizarrap, featuring lyrics that raised eyebrows: “I’m worth two 22-year-olds / You traded a Ferrari for a Twingo / You traded a Rolex for a Casio.”

In June, Shakira appeared to confirm cheating rumors, revealing that she learned of the betrayal while her beloved father was in the ICU after a fall. A second source attests, “Shakira’s lowest point was finding out Gerard cheated on her when her dad was in the ICU. She doesn’t know how, but somehow she made it through.”

Music became her refuge, as she poured her pain and emotions into songs for her eagerly anticipated new album. According to the source, the album, set for release by year-end, promises to be a raw and authentic reflection of her journey. “All the pain and emotions she’s experienced — the anger, the frustration, the tears, it’s all there,” notes the insider. “She wants it to be perfect.”

Despite an impending trial in November over alleged tax fraud charges, Shakira remains steadfast in her belief that she will be vindicated. And as for her relationship with Piqué, it remains “tepid at best” for now. “There have been digs from both sides,” reveals the source. “When they do communicate, it’s just about the boys. Shakira isn’t ready to be friends yet.”

Last November, following a custody battle, Shakira obtained permission to relocate from Piqué’s native Spain to Florida with their sons. In a poignant Instagram message on April 2, she bid farewell to Barcelona and embraced a new chapter in pursuit of happiness, emphasizing the enduring value of friendship.
